4 simple planting steps
Step 1: Seed treatment
Soak seeds in 25°C warm water for 30 minutes, rinse off surface soil, wrap in a damp cloth, then place in a 25°C environment to germinate — fertilize after about one day.
Step 2: Soil treatment
Mix 2 parts garden soil, 1 part ash, and some compost to create humus-rich soil that retains moisture well and supports healthy onion growth.
Step 3: Sowing in soil
After germination and soil prep, plant seeds about 2 cm deep using your finger to make small holes. Water moderately to keep the soil moist, then place in a well-ventilated area — onions will root and sprout in around 3 days.
Step 4: Care and Harvest
Water every three days during growth, as scallions require high moisture, and reduce watering near harvest. You can also add phosphorus and potassium fertilizers to boost development.
